Hey friendssss ❣️
Ya girl is overwhelmed… and yet so happy. And honestly, I’m still adjusting to how both of those things can be true at the same time.
I have so much I want to do, so much to look forward to, and moments where I’m really enjoying life. Then somewhere in the middle of all that, I’m missing my nephew. The happiness is real. So is the sadness. Some days, I’m just giving both of them room.
I got a tattoo of 6624—the number of days my nephew was alive. Four little numbers that hold a whole lot of love. Somebody else might see them and wonder what they mean. For me, I know exactly who they belong to. ❤️
I’ve been thinking about the words “pack your grief wisely.” I’m still figuring out what that looks like because grief will throw something in your bag you didn’t even know you packed. You can be having a perfectly good day, and suddenly a memory has you needing a minute.
But I want to carry the good memories, too. The ones that make me smile. I want to be able to talk about him and let a laugh come out if that’s what the memory brings.
Me and the kids have been doing a lot of outdoor activities, and I always enjoy our time together. Getting outside, moving around, making memories—and, of course, working on my jump shot.
Because y’all know ya girl is about to go to the A. The WNBA, that is. 😂 Please respect the process. I’m in training, and I don’t need any negativity around my athletic career at this time.
I’m also trying to pre-plan for my New Year—my birthday! The Saggiterrorist is thawing out, babyyyyyy. ♐️😂 The ideas are coming. Whether I can get them organized into an actual plan is another conversation, but we’re starting early.
In between being outside and thinking about birthday festivities, I’ve been resting. Appreciating the quiet. Letting myself sit down without making every spare minute useful. Sometimes I just want to enjoy where I am for a second.
But listen… I’m also super locked in. There is so much I want to do. My brain has ideas, goals, plans, and apparently no concern for how many hours are in a day. 😭 I’m excited to get things moving. I’m just trying to find a pace that leaves me enough energy to enjoy what I’m working toward.
So that’s where I am, friends. Resting when I need to. Making plans. Spending time with my boys. Missing my nephew. Having happy days and tender moments, sometimes within minutes of each other.
I’m still learning how to carry all of it.
A Little Something to Sit With ❣️
Pack your grief wisely.
I don’t think we get complete control over what grief asks us to carry. Some days it’s heavy before we even get out of bed. But I’m trying to make room for the memories I love alongside the ache of missing him.
And when there’s a chance to laugh with my kids, celebrate another birthday, or simply enjoy a quiet afternoon, I want to let myself have it.
My love for him comes with me into those moments, too.
What’s been bringing you a little joy lately? Come talk to me in the comments.
