Privacy Feels Peaceful

Dear Diary,

Oooooo y’all I’m late the days have gotten away from me. Not too much on me! But I’m back baby.

So last week started off in a blur. I did a 24-hour water fast, and babyyyyyyy, when I say it took me through there… whew! 😂

But I also got a chance to catch up with an old friend, and they asked me something that stuck with me:

“Do you feel like you’re not close enough to people to expose and talk about big plans you have, or do you just not like to jinx things?”

Now y’all know I’m private, so I never really thought too much about it. But I bought a house this year. GO ME! 🏡 And barely anybody knew. Some people still don’t know, except y’all, ’cause y’all my lil friends. Lol.

I don’t necessarily feel like I’m not close to people. But I do think past experiences have made me more careful about sharing my business. There have been times when something I shared got repeated or brought back up in a way that made me wish I had kept it to myself.

And no, I’m not talking about the people in my life now, because I gets right on out the way of weirdness. No thank you.

The more I sat with that question, though, the more I realized that my privacy feels peaceful.

I like being able to figure things out without having to give updates. Sometimes I want to sit with an idea, pray about it, make a decision, and experience it before opening it up for conversation.

I can love people and feel close to them while still keeping some things for myself. I’m learning to pay attention to whether I’m holding something back because I’m scared or simply because I’m comfortable keeping it close. With this, I feel comfortable.

And when I do share, I want it to be because I feel ready. There’s something sweet about telling somebody good news when you’ve already had a little time to smile about it yourself.

Buying a whole house without making an announcement? Still counts, baby. GO ME. 😂🏡

A Little Something to Sit With ❣️

How does privacy feel to you? Do you enjoy having something just for yourself for a little while, or do you wish sharing came easier?

Congratulations on the new house! Go you!! ✨ I used to either overshare or I would share something with my close circle, and suddenly, people I barely knew would know everything and be up in my business, which also took away the joy from me of wanting to share good news myself, so now I’m trying to keep quiet more 😅

Samesies I feel like I have found “my” happy medium and I say mine because some people hate that I don’t tell them stuff, but I work at my own comfort level and it has created so much peace for me and way less disappointment if I don’t get the excitement from the other party. But Thank youuuuuuu. It’s so exciting and annoying all in one. I am so grateful and appreciative for it all though.

There’s always gonna be someone who’s gonna feel entitled to know, and then be offended, but like, people need to learn what it means to respect privacy.
I hate when you share something with someone, and their bitter or nasty reaction ruins the whole mood or puts doubt in you or whatever. Ugh! Anyway, keep protecting your peace and all the best to you!
