Hi, I’m Deev and this is Life behind the cell. It’s a space where I can share the parts of my life that don’t always fit into a picture or a post or even a quick convo.

Living with Sickle Cell is a part of my story, but it is not my entire story. I have Sickle Cell, Sickle Cell does not have me!

I am a Black women, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a student of life. But I am also someone who is still learning while laughing, struggling while growing, and hurting while healing and figuring life out one day at a time.

I created Deev’s Digital Diary because I wanted somewhere I could be raw without pretending everything is ok, without trying to make everything look pretty. Just doing life UNFILTERED.

I am more than just my illness. Some entries may be about my journey living with sickle cell. Other times I may be dishing about my family, being a homeowner (ugh, a blessing and a story in itself 😂), relationships, mental health, accomplishments or failures (be real we all have them!) , new recipes that I’m trying to perfect, or something random I just wanted to tell y’all because let’s face it we friends now …lol.

But no seriously, I want this to be a place that you can relate to. I want people to be able to think “Dag, so we all feel like this” or see something I wrote and apply to their life.
